BAPTISM COMIN' UUUUP

No pics this week... Feel free to write Cam a letter or send him a birthday card, it would mean the world to him! Birthday is December 9th. Address is in the side column --------->> over there..

So a lot has happened in one week! Been a really challenging and rewarding week! So to start off Elder Smith got transferred out of Sutherland! He got assigned two new companions from the US that are assigned Mandarin Speaking! They are both from Utah! That left me with Elder Boden and I am his new trainer now instead of
Smith! So I am now a senior companion/trainer and I am running the Sutherland area! I had some trouble adjusting to Smith leaving so fast because he was like one of my best friends honestly! I have been relying on the Lord a whole lot for help to be able to train and be in charge of an area and just to be able to adjust to the new change! The Lord has not left me alone! He has been here with me every step of the way :) The actual transfer doesn't happen until next Monday but the new Mandarin speakers came in a week and a half early! So next Monday is Transfers and we will find out if we are leaving the area, getting a new comp, or training, etc! I hope I stay in Sutherland because I really like it here! So my P day will be on Tuesday next week just so you all know :) Oh and GREAT NEWS!! Rolf our investigator is getting baptised this Saturday! Keep him in your prayers! Here is my weekly run down for you's!

Monday- We had a basic P day, Emailed, shopped, then went and played some Basketball with some other elders at the Chapel! Then we went to Bishop's house for FHE and dinner! Rolf was able to come too and be apart of it which was really good for him!

Tuesday- Elder Smith had a zone leader, training meeting so Elder Boden and I were on trade offs with Elder Brown the other Zone leader's Companion! We went around his area in Hurtsville and did some finding on the train and taught one of their investigators about the Book Of Mormon and it was a really powerful lesson! Then we went and got Smith at the end of the night and we got the bad news that he was being transferred so that put a damper on the mood for the night haha but luckily we were able to go over to Chris and Nicole Lee's house for dinner and we made homemade pizza's! It was really freaking good haha and they are awesome! Then we shared a message with them about the power of the Book of Mormon! The Spirit was so strong that night!

Wednesday- We took Smith to the mission office to get his new companions and we got to meet them and all the new missionaries that came in! They all seem like studs! Then we went and taught Rolf at he Chapel and we taught him about the Plan of Salvation! We then committed him to November 14th for his Baptism! He has such a strong testimony and he is so faithful in all that he does! He is the fetching man! Then we had dinner at the Baker's home and they made us a baked chicken with all sorts of veggies! It was super good! Then we played Settlers of Catan with them and shared a message after!

Thursday- There was an orientation for all the new missionaries that just came in this transfer and so we went to that. It was a good reminder of all the things we should be doing as missionaries and all the rules we need to follow! It is a whole new level of discipleship as a missionary! SO many rules and guidelines haha it can be tough but it is worth it! The main thing the Spirit whispered to me that night was that its not about my wants or my will, but it is about the Lord's will and I need to have faith in his plan for me and submit myself to His will which can be tough at times but it is totally worth it when you do it! Then we had dinner at the Kendrick's home and played kickball with all the little kids! The second youngest Blake just loves me and totally plays favorites with me and the mom and dad always call him out about it and just laugh at him! He reminds me of myself honestly just super awesome and handsome ;) hahaha jokes! But that family is awesome I love em!

Friday- We had Zone training meeting and that went really good! Our investigator Gavin cancelled our appointment for that day which sucked but he did re schedule for the next week and he was super nice about it haha! Then we went and taught Rolf and we finalized more of his baptism! He chose Elder Smith to baptise him and me to confirm him the next day at church! I am so excited for him!! Then we had dinner at the Liehr's house and they are actually related to the Kendricks which explains why they are both so awesome!! Then we went home for the night after that :)

Saturday- We went and played bball in Mortdale with the AP's and Elder smith and his Comps. After we just got ready at the AP's flat and we went to the stake president's daughters baptism! It was really awesome to see the love and support she had and to see her enter into such a sacred Covenant with our Father in heaven! Then we went home and had lunch and then went to do some service after that! The service was just some easy yard work haha so then we went and found on the train and I talked to a really nice old lady who just was so kind to me and she made my whole day honestly! She was just a fun lady to have a conversation with and she has a strong faith in Christ! But she is already a member of the Uniting church haha but she said she would love to talk anytime about religion! Then we went to dinner at the best place ever!! It was called the Great Southern Burger Company in Cronulla! They have the best chips (fries) and I had a really nice Crispy Chicken sand-which!! Then we went home for the night!

Sunday- We had a good Sacrament and Gospel principles class! After church we taught Rolf and got everything filled out for his baptism program! Then we went and visited a less active member and taught him about feasting on the Words of Christ! He is a really nice guy and is just grateful for when ever we come over because he gets pretty lonely! Then we went to Bishop's house to borrow some milk for dinner and they just ended up keeping us for dinner when we got there which was super nice of them!! We played Taboo with them and then we shared a message on the Book of Mormon again and it was such a strong spirit in the room again!!

I have learned a lot about submitting myself to the Lord's will this week. I am not great at doing it yet and it is a constant battle but I am trying my best to do so! I know that everything happens for a reason and it will all be for my benefit! I truly know the Lord answers prayers! I have already seen it time and time again on my mission! I love being out here, it honestly is the HARDEST thing I have ever done I can't lie to you. Not every day is the best and it can be a drag! Sometimes I hate it here and want to quit, but then I remember that it is not about me!! It is about doing what the Lord has asked! I am doing my best to forget myself and just do the Lord's will! The mission may be hard and it can suck at times but all the great experiences and good times out weigh the bad times! All the blessings and good experiences make it all worth it!! I love you all have a good week! Don't be afraid to shoot your boy an email or two or even a letter would be sweet, it's only 2.75 to send one.... :) Have a good week!!

HALLOWEEEEENY

Man it was a quick week here in Sydney Australia!! Been a lot of fun and it has been a busy busy week! Here is the recap for youse :)

Monday- Played basketball at the church with all the missionaries in the zone and it was so fun! Elder Smith is a really good basketball player haha he played for Tville until his senior year then he played for Westlake! Look him up on youtube hahaha he makes me look worse than I already am haha! But i'm taller than him so heck yeah! Then we went to the Liehr family's home for FHE and carved pumpkins! That was after we had a bomb meal and had a spiritual lesson :)

Tuesday- Just wasn't the best day haha we were feeling really lazy and just not very motivated! We didn't feel like talking to anyone while we were out on the train and stuff. Felt pretty useless haha but we got over the discouraged feeling and bounced back through out the week! I don't like being lazy haha you just feel like crap at the end of the day and you know you wasted a day!

Wednesday- We did 7 hours of service! haha We helped out on a group service project at a guys house who is a hoarder! He had so much stuff all in his front yard! There were so many huge spiders while we were de junking the yard haha all the Aussies were making fun of us yanks for being scared of spiders! They were pretty freaking huge though haha I will send pics of the pile of junk, it was huge!! Then we helped some lady across the street unpackage bubble guns and assemble them! She bought us lunch and gave us some nice sun glasses for our help! She had a ton of exotic animals that she let us hold and see too! I actually let a bird on my shoulder shockingly! I hate birds haha but it was sweet! Then we taught Rolf again and discussed Faith and quitting smoking! as of Sunday November 1st he hasn't smoked in two days!! So he is making progress and we are getting close to having him ready for baptism! Really awesome guy i love him!

Thursday- We taught Gavin our other investigator and we taught him about Christ and why having faith in him is important! We watched a bible video of Christ suffering for us and dying for us then when he is resurrected! He liked the lesson and it went really well! The spirit was definitely there no denying that! Then we had dinner at the Kendrick's home and we played kickball before dinner with the Dad and all the kids! They made some delicious mexican food! We gave Brother Kendrick the Hot salsa that we had last week and it didn't even phase him!! All the kids died when they had it though! hahaha :)

Friday- We had district training meeting as usual then we went an found people all day around the little shops in Cronulla! We ran into our boy Jeremy (the guy who bought us steaks last transfer) He is doing good but still struggling with life! He was really nice to us and he respects us a ton! He is a good guy!

Saturday- Halloween isn't really a thing here haha very few people celebrate it! We went door knocking and when people weren't interested we just told them we were dressed up as missionaries as a joke and they bought it! hahahaha so then we would just talk to them and at the end of the conversation we would just tell them we really were missionaries and it was just hilarious! I said trick or treat a couple times to break the ice at a couple of doors haha i love door knocking it's fun :) Then we got our faces painted for free before the Ward trunk or treat party at the church! I looked like the Joker! Pics will be coming! The trunk or treat was awesome! A lot of people from the neighborhood who weren't even members so that was way sweet!

Sunday- Great fast and testimony meeting! Rolf came to church as usual and Gavin is going to come next week! We went out and talked to people in Cronulla again by all the shops and planted a lot of seeds in peoples hearts! Felt good to put in effort and talk to heaps of people! The Lord will always provide for us as long as we keep trying our best and do what he has asked us to do!

Man I love the mission! So excited for all my friends who are getting ready to go on their missions! It is so worth it!! Just want you all to know that the Lord is aware of you and knows you personally! He knows what you are going through, have been through, and will go through! He is always there for you and he understands perfectly everything you go through! The Lord loves you all as do I! Have a good week!! :)

Halloween and Thanksgiving packages have arrived.

Man it was a pretty fast week with not too much going on! There were some really good highlights but there was some slow and basic days as well but here it is :)

Monday- Had my final P day in Fairfield and we did the basic emails, shop, and play touch rugby and basketball at a park!

Tuesday-I got to go to the Sydney Temple which was so awesome! It is a lot smaller than it looks in pictures though haha but still really pretty! After that I ended up having another P day because I am back in Sutherland with Elders Smith and Boden! The reason I got another P day was because the day your zone goes to the temple is your P day for that week so lucky me I got another P day haha! We went to a member's house for dinner after P day and on the way there it was raining pretty dang hard! I loved it haha

Wednesday- Started off the day by teaching Gavin, one of our investigators! We taught him about the Plan of Salvation and he loved it! The spirit really worked through him as we taught him because his wife was trying to prove us wrong, which she didn't, haha and he was just like, I don't care what she says I am listening to my heart and sticking to what I believe and he believes what we are teaching him! Such an awesome lesson! Then we went and taught Rolf our other investigator about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we really focused on Faith with him. He needs to quit smoking so he can be baptised and so we told him he needs faith that the Lord can help him to overcome his addiction! We gave him a blessing and a quit smoking pamphlet to help him and we are going to get him some cinnamon flavored everything haha to help! I really felt the spirit work through me during these lessons and help me to know what to say and I was so grateful for the help from the Spirit in these lessons! It was a good day!

Thursday- We visited a Less Active member who has been in and out of jail and taught him about the power of the priesthood! He has a strong testimony but just struggles with addictions and bad habits! He really wants his brother and all his family to join the Gospel! He said he would give up his place in the Celestial Kingdom if it meant his family could be there, which I thought was just so awesome that family meant that much to him! Then we went to a member's home and taught her less active son and he was the fetching man! He was so cool to talk to and he was just a really awesome all around kid! We taught him about how the Lord is always with us and helps support us! He really wants to start coming back to church!

Friday- Really basic day! We had District Training in the morning and just then had a basic day of finding on the train and knocking some doors! I love knocking doors haha some people are really rude and it pisses me off, not gonna lie haha but i laugh at the same time because it is funny! They don't even let us say more than 3 words sometimes but it's all goods! Then Elder Yardley and Elder Piukalla came down from there area and stayed the night for Chris Lee's baptism the next day! It was a good day and night!

Saturday- It was the man, the myth, the legend Chris Lee's Baptism!! It was such a sweet experience seeing someone as happy as him and someone with so much faith and such a strong testimony be baptised! It was truly beautiful!! He was literally glowing! haha Then we went and had lunch with Yardley and Piukalla before they left! We Tried this hot salsa from a mexican restaurant that was made from the Carolina Reaper which is a mix of a Ghost chile and a Habenaro Pepper! It burnt my mouth so bad I had to ask for another burrito with new salsa in it and go to the store and buy some milk to drink! The worker just told us that it was pretty hot, not that it was going to burn our faces off!!! Elders Smith and Yardley tried it and they were dying the instant it touched their mouth hahahaha! So we bought two sides it to take to members houses with us so they can try it :) lol!

Sunday- Rolf came to church like he usually does and he loves it! This week was the Primary Program and it was a success for them!! Such a good spirit felt there! Then we did more finding during the day and then had dinner with members! Solid Sabbath day!

The mission is so awesome!! I love being here and mission life is so freaking fun!! I can't wait to keep going on through my mission! :) I miss you all and would love to hear from any of you! haha so don't be afraid to send me an email or some pics! hahaha! This is a good Scriptural thought I wanted to send it is Mosiah 4:7
"I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation, through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world." The Atonement is for EVERYONE! It covers all! Anything can be healed from the Atonement and everyone will return to live with our Heavenly Father because of the Atonement of Christ! So use the Atonement and Thank God for it often!! Love ya all heaps!!

McDonalds three times in a week.

Man so this week has been fun!! Today is my last day in fairfield, then I am back to Sutherland tomorrow! The ward I have been in here is Samoan! I have loved it because I know that there is no pressure for me to learn the language because i was only here for two weeks haha! I have loved the ward so much and all the members have been amazing to me and so funny!! If this was an English speaking ward/area I would never want to leave!! I also get to go to the Sydney Temple tomorrow with my zone so that is going to be awesome because I miss going to the Temple! Here is the week rundown.

Monday- Had a fun P day with other Elders in our zone, we went and played laser tag at some place for only 3 bucks a game!! It was a ton of fun haha the Tongan elders are funny as when you play them in any competition type thing haha. The best i ever did was 3rd place so I mean I am above average at laser tag haha then we just had family home evening with our ward mission leader and his family! He is a young guy named Tony Mu who just got home from his mission in the Philippines a couple months ago! He actually served with Collin Boothe so if anyone could tell Boothe that or have him email me so I could talk to him that would be sweet!

Tuesday- Really basic day. We walked to member's houses because we don't have a car haha it was blazing hot and most the members weren't there when we got there haha but it was a good thing we tried to visit them haha and then we went to Mcdonalds with a member we met from visiting! We went to rescue night at the church to go visit Less Actives and we showed up at the wrong time haha so the bishop sent us with another member who showed up late, to Mcdonalds! haha so we had Mcdonalds twice within like an hour haha but i loved it because I was still hungry :)

Wednesday- Had another basic day haha just visited families and all that! I wrote in my journal this day, "God is great, work is good, and people are lost." haha so that sums up the mission here in Australia haha :)

Thursday- Kept visiting families in the ward! Had lunch with one family and they fed us heaps!!! I was so dang full after the first plate then the Dad of the family took my plate and piled more food on!! I finished it like a boss but i was so full! haha two short hours later we had dinner with another member family and had some delicious stirfry and curry! I tried an islander food called tarro and it was nasty! It is basically like eating wax! haha but everything else was really good!

Friday- We had Zone training meeting in the morning then we went around with the ZL's for the day which was pretty fun! It was like 35 degrees Celsius on this day and i was sweating everywhere!! haha it was so dang hot! Then we went to a steak house with a member from the ward who just got back from his mission a month ago! His name is Duke To'o and he has the funniest stories from his mission!! I was crying I was laughing so hard at his stories haha and he can't park a car to save his life!! He took like 5 minutes to park in the biggest parking spot ever!! haha

Saturday- Took the wrong bus and ended up in the north mission... whoops! haha so we had to get back into our mission then we went to lunch with a member at guess where?? Mcdonalds!! haha i really love Mcdonalds here haha I crave it too much.. I talked to a lady on this day who goes around blessing people with oil and all this weird stuff haha she was christian and non denominational and I asked if she had read the Book of Mormon and she said that she didn't like it because it honored Joseph Smith instead of Christ.. I told her how the Book of Mormon only testifies of Christ and she just said that it was hidden haha and that she would stick with the Bible.. I don't think she has actually read the BoM because her thoughts of it are really backwards and not true haha

Sunday- Sat through a Samoan ward meetings and couldn't understand a thing but still felt the spirit! I sung some hymns in Samoan haha well I tried! The hymns are beautiful in their language! Then we went to our ward mission leader's house for lunch and taught his 10 year old nephew which was awesome! I love teaching kids because it is so simple! I want to continue to teach that simple to everyone! We then did Zone splits and visited members and less actives and then had dinner at the stake mission leader's house!

I go back to my old area tomorrow and i am excited but a little sad as well! Everyone try to do the little things like prayer, scripture study, Family home evening, and attending church! These little things will help us to build on the foundation of Christ, and when we are built on that rock we CANNOT FALL!! So awesome so always remember that!

Love youse heaps!!

The Church is TRUE y'all

Man what a crazy week it has been so far! Here are the details on what happened from transfers! I got sent into the Tongan program with two Tongan Elders and it was a huge shock to me what that all really entailed. I was expecting to just study the language everyday and then be in a ward/area where there was some Tongan speaking members/people and the rest English. Well boy was I wrong! We visited members and investigators and I couldn't understand them and they couldn't understand me! I missed being able to enjoy a simple conversation and being able to bear my testimony and to testify of the truthfulness of our message. I found out that all we would be doing is finding and teaching Tongan people, no English speaking people. I began to become overwhelmed and my anxiety that I had experienced before came right back! I am pretty ashamed and embarrassed to say that I called President Back and asked to go back to the English program. He was able to get me back to Sutherland with Elder Smith and our new trainee that came in this week. I felt a lot better being back into an English program and my anxiety went away! President Back is the best Mission President I could have asked for! Well then some more change came my way haha I got news from the Ap's that I would need to go to Fairfield for 2 weeks to be with Elder Falefitu because his new trainee is coming in later than the rest and he needed a companion! Weird thing is before I received this news I had Elder Smith give me a blessing to calm my nerves and anxiety and boy did it work! I felt so at peace and I knew how much the savior loved me and that he is fully aware of my situation and all he cares is that I move forward with faith and strength and keep trying my best! I felt so loved and comforted by the Spirit. I knew that this temporary assignment was for my own good and experience. I get nervous about getting new companions and going to a new area and I know that after this blessing that the Lord gave me this assignment because he know
s it will prepare me for the future of my mission! So don't worry family and friends Cam Jens is doing good!! :) I am slowly finding myself more and more each day! Conference really helped me with everything as well! I kept hearing the message through out the talks that as long as we submit ourselves to the will of the Father and accept his will for us and have faith in it then all will be ok and he will provide a way for us to overcome our trials. I also knew that everything I have gone through and all that I will go through will be for my own good and for my personal progression! It is hard to pick a favorite talk from conference because the whole thing was just so dang good!! The message that I took away was to trust in God with all our heart, might, mind and strength and that is what I need to get better at on the mission! I also loved Elder Holland's talk on mothers and how their love for their children is the closest thing to Christ's love for us! It made me appreciate my mother so much more and made me realize all that she does for me, big and little! I love this Gospel and I love being a missionary! I really would invite anyone who isn't a member to take the missionary discussions and to give this Church a try because what is it going to hurt if you just try? It will only make you happier and fill your life with more peace! Our Heavenly Father loves us all so much and he wants us all to return to live with him again and so he sent his only begotten son  Jesus Christ to perform the most amazing and loving act ever for EVERYONE and that is the Atonement! The Atonement of Christ is why I am still on a mission today. Without the Atonement I would not be able to overcome the hard times out here but through Christ all is possible and because of it Christ Understands anything and everything that we have or will go through! Use the Atonement often and you will feel more peace and comfort in your own life. I can truly testify of that because it has done that for me and continues to do it for me everyday! This church is TRUE!! I invite all to find that out for themselves because you will come to know the truth and come on what's it going to hurt to just give it a shot? :) Love you all heaps! Keep me all updated on your lives as well!

Two investigators....

No pictures this week, hopefully next week we will have a longer e-mail and some pictures. Transfers were this week so next weeks email should be a lot more detailed. Please keep the investigators Cameron and his companion are teaching in your prayers. Thank you for all of the prayers and continued support, we are forever grateful! Also, sorry this is a few days late, I got busy (lazy) and forgot to post it Monday night.

This week has been awesome! So many miracles that the Lord has put in our way! We picked up 4 new investigators this week we have only taught two so far, his name is Gavin! He is such an awesome guy and he has a strong belief in God! He is super willing to learn and just wants to keep learning! The other guy we taught is Rolf! He has already read the whole Book Of Mormon and has a strong testimony of the Church! We set him to a baptismal date and we know he will be ready by then! There hasn't been anything else too crazy this week! I will send a better detailed email next week! Until then we will continue to work hard and find souls to teach! Love you all and hope you have a great week!

He's learning Tongan

Please keep Cam in your prayers as he learns Tongan, I'm sure he'll need all the blessings he can receive! Thanks for all the support and prayers on his behalf thus far! Here's to another week in he land down unda.
Week 5 is in the books! Sorry i messed up my week count last week haha but i figured it out! One more week to transfers! My P day will be on Tuesday next week (Monday for yous) That will happen at the end of every transfer (evry 6 weeks) so just a heads up :)

Monday- Normal P day we went and played touch Rugby with our zone at a park and that was pretty fun!! Nothing compares to football though! Then we had FHE with our Bishop and his family and we taught about sharing the gospel with everyone!

Tuesday- We taught an investigator that is the sister missionaries and we finished up teaching him about the Priesthood and about temple work for people who have died in his family! He got so stoked when he heard this! His baptism date is Oct. 24! He is freaking awesome!! He said the best prayer at the end and it totally just flooded the room with the Spirit! So sweet!!

Wednesday- Elder Yardley got a new companion and is training him! His trainee is from Tonga/west valley. He is super awesome! I also found out on this day that i will be training at the end of the transfer as well! So i will only have been out for 6 weeks and I will be training a new missionary! Pretty excited and nervous haha so I will either stay in this same area and train or I will get shotgunned into an area with my trainee! I will train him for 12 weeks and then after that I will probably get put into the Tongan program and I will be learning Tongan!!!!! I am so excited to learn a new language!! President needs more white boys who can speak Tongan so I volunteered and he kept making sure i was being serious and i told him that i am 100 percent sure! It will be hard but man it will be so sweet to be able to learn a new lanfuage and President is excited that I was willing to take it on!

Thursday- Elder Smith and I did service for a less active family for about 4 hours so that was pretty fun haha then we just found the rest of the day haha nothing too exciting!

Friday-Had District training meeting (DTM) and got taught about the history of the church which was so awesome! Then we did finding that day and we gave a Book of Mormon to a lady who seemed very interested on reading it and was glad we had a free one to give her! Then a member from the ward took us to Mcdonalds and bought us dinner and told us about how he converted to the church and how he converted his friend after! Really solid guy!

Saturday- Crappy day for finding.. we struggled to get motivated but we had good lessons with a less active and a member family! We watched the Because of Him video and invited them to always recognize the little or big things that we have in life because of Christ!

Sunday- Got 2 new investigators at church! One of them showed up to church after it was over and told bishop that he wanted to be taught and just had heaps of questions that will be answered in the first lesson and he has already read the BoM almost all the way through so we are excited to contact him! Sacrament meeting was way good! The youth just returned from trek and they all bore such strong testimonies! Made me tear up a bunch! It was cool to hear them all say that they know the church is true and for some of them it was the first time that they had said it!

The work is slow in Aussie ville but we are working hard to turn that around! Sorry if the descriptions of the days are kinda short haha but i know this Church is the only true Church on this Earth and that there is no other way or name given that we can be saved but through Jesus Christ! Love you all have a good week!
